Rep. Peter Welch announced today that his campaign is holding a kickoff event – launching the campaign’s grassroots organizing effort – calling for “All Hands on Deck.” The virtual event will take place on Saturday, January 15th at 4:30 pm. Members of the public can sign up here. The event will feature Senator Bernie Sanders, and will be hosted by Chittenden County States Attorney Sarah George.
“This is an all-hands-on-deck moment for our democracy. That means every one of us has to find the way we can make a difference, and that starts right here in Vermont,” Welch said. “This kickoff is about building a grassroots volunteer team focused on strengthening and protecting our democracy through service and civic engagement. We need folks involved in their local elections as well as national elections. This isn’t just about this campaign, it’s about the strength of our state and our communities.”
Sanders said: “Peter Welch understands that now is the time to think big, not small. That means building a grassroots coalition to stand together to fight for working people and the future of this country. With his years in Congress, Peter has the knowledge and experience to hit the ground running as a strong advocate for Vermont’s working families and to fight for a government that works for all, and not just the wealthy few. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Peter and look forward to joining him in this effort.”
Welch, Sanders and State’s Attorney George will be joined by:
Vermont State Representative Lucy Rogers
Jen Kimmich -Co-Owner, Alchemist Brewery
